I'm going to end up in jail. I can see it now. I'll be on one of those documentaries about pregnant women in jail. I can practically see the camera zooming in on my bump, and the narrator explaining the facilities available for women and their babies in prison. I can tell-
"Len?"
I jolt at the sound of my name, and have to physically force myself to unclench my jaw.
"Where were you just then?" Jay asks.
"Plotting your murder. And Ash's, and Philly's. I was wondering if they'd film me being pregnant in prison for one of those documentaries you Americans seem to love." I say all of this with a straight face, watching as all of their eyes widen.
Ash's lips twitch, but at my glare he clears his throat and shakes his head slightly. "Why are we being murdered?" he asks, hip lips still trying to spread into a grin.
"Because you're all twats. He's dying. It sucks for him, but I've lived without a dad for this long, it doesn't really make a difference to me. Plus, it's self inflicted. He gets no sympathy from me. Also, I'm not a china doll."
Jay frowns. "Did we say you were?"
"No, but you're treating me like one. You and Ash have been treading on eggshells since I got here. And Philly has been giving me a wide berth, too. Literally! He had to walk past me earlier and refused to turn his back to me. He walked sideways past me with his hands out in front of him!"
Philly chuckles but turns it into a cough quickly. "Sorry, doll."
I don't even realise I'm standing from my chair until Jay puts his hand on my shoulder and gently pushes me to sit back down.
"I didn't mean it like that!" Philly defends. "It's a term of affection!"
I'm saved from any more of their assholery when the clubhouse door opens and Robin walks in.
"Oh thank God!" I yell, standing and wrapping her in a hug. As I release her, she drops her bag on the floor and goes to sit down, stopping when I tug on her arm. "Don't bother. We're going out. Far, far away from these dickheads."
"What did they do?" she asks with a smirk.
"Nothing!" The denial comes from all three of them in perfect sync.
"I'll explain on the way," I tell her.
"The way where?"
"Shopping."
She pauses for about half a millisecond before shrugging, and picking her bag back up. "Sounds good."
I chuckle at her, and it turns into a loud laugh when she walks straight into Banjo, faceplanting his chest as they both try to go through the doorway at the same time. He takes a step back and rubs his chest.
"Sorry," she squeaks out, her cheeks going red.
He doesn't say a word, just nods at her briefly before moving out of the way. She frowns but walks past him. I look up as I step near him.
"You okay?" I ask.
He nods but then tilts his head in confusion. "Yeah, why?"
"You totally just blanked Robin," I say, gesturing towards the girl who now waits by my car, chewing on her thumbnail with a frown on her face.
Banjo shrugs and shakes his head slightly. "Did I?"
I glare at him and go to speak, but he covers my mouth with his large hand.
"It's nothing. I'll be okay."
I drop it for now, but if he thinks he's got away with it, he can think again. I'll get it out of him one way or another. Even if I have to add him next to the other three assholes on my hit list.
